The Forgotten Cake

Hello, everybody!

It seems like our weekend schedules have been busy...NO MORE CAKES?!!??
We hope the situation changes very soon, and that more Z Cakes will come out of the oven!!
Boston Creme Pie still on top of the list!...

Coming Soon....Cake #3

Cake #3 will be a PIE!
Oh well, that's the name, right? BOSTON CREME PIE!
We both love it, and actually have a few friends and family who admire this delicacy too! It will be one of those "love all-serve all" cakes.
The first time I (Denise) had it, was as a donut from Dunkin Donuts!

Our 1st experience with FONDANT!

Hello, everybody!
Brittany is an "Ace of Cake" (TV Show) fanatic. I (Denise) watched a few, but I think she's watched them all. She even learned techniques from the show...What amazes her the most is the FONDANT.
You can use Fondant to cover cakes and create amazing decorations. It is not hard to use, but we believe the more we use it, the better we'll get at it. I personally think we did a wonderful job with the cake, and while we ended up spliting up the work at the end and Brittany was in charge of the fondant and decoration, she did an amazing job. We baked the cake from scratch together (the recipe was from my new beloved Williams-Sonoma Cake Book), and I made the buttercream and cut up the strawberries while Brittany was working the Fondant.
For the first time we used Fondant, we decided to buy ready-to-use Fondant. Like this, we could focus on experimenting with it. Maybe, next time we'll make some!

Here is our Buttercream Strawberry Flowers Cake:

Richard was amazed by the cake. We tasted it right after the "photo shoot" and it was Gooood!

El primer Cake!

Today we made a Double Chocolate Mousse Cake. We got the recipe, chosen by Brittany, from the Good Housekeeping book of recipes. The whole house was smelling like warm chocolate cake!...
It was very easy to make. The hardest was to wait until it cooled down after baking and then another few hours of cooling in the fridge so that we could make the glaze and decorate it nicely with the piping bag!
The mousse cake was a big success. Richie and Brittany took each a big piece home to share with their families. Brittany and I agreed that the cake was even yummier on the next day!
